In celebration of the inaugural National Marshmallow Day.

There are several reasons being a Melburnian this week is extra sweet, with the return of Shop the City and the launch of Australia’s first National Marshmallow Day.

In the midst of their Shop the City offers, Melbourne’s best shopping centres – Melbourne Central, Emporium Melbourne, QV Melbourne, The Strand and Melbourne’s GPO – are hosting a series of free activations to celebrate the squishy treat.

If you think marshmallows are best when toasted, head to QV Melbourne to make your own smores in the centre’s pop-up winter village. Digestive biscuits, chocolate and marshmallows will be supplied.

Over at Melbourne Central, the sweets are getting a purple tint. Indulge in violet-coloured marshmallows, purple chocolate fondue and edible purple glitter in celebration of Pantone’s Colour of the Year.

Driver Lane at The Strand Melbourne is bringing the nostalgia with hand-dipped Wagon Wheels (from 5pm until sold out) and if a liquid snack is more your cup of tea, head to Emporium’s Alice in Wonderland pop-up bar for cocktails (more about that here).

Once you’re full, you can work your way around the city’s retailers to shop discounts across jewellery, homewares, clothing and more. For the full list of exclusive offers, head here.

Shop the City goes down on Friday May 18, with over 300 offers from more than 1000 stores.
