Book review: Into the Water

A deliciously twisted thriller.

The gifted mind that brought us The Girl on the Train has released another deliciously twisted thriller.

Into the Water is very Scandi-noir in approach, following a small town in the wake of a local woman’s suicide.

Like The Girl on the Train, there are multiple gripping storylines that raise more questions than answers. That is, until the final page.

Hawkins’ literary voice(s) are masterful, too, with subtle adaptations for each character. Steeped in metaphors and symbolism, the novel is artistic in approach. But, at the end of it all, there’s still that juicy ‘sting in the tail’ we’re craving.
