Book Review: The Family

A chilling read.

The Family is perhaps one of the most chilling yet compelling cults in Australian history.

Visually, the cues are all there: a glamorous female leader, an esteemed following, a multitude of seemingly identical, white-haired children. But how would this translate into a book? Pretty well, it turns out.

The Family is an acute and detailed insight into the inner workings of this cult. Meticulously researched and well-measured, it provides an in-depth account of everyday life within The Family, from the mundane to the horrific.

It details allegations of regular starvation, drowning and LSD use against the children within The Family’s confines.

A chilling read.
