A Keith Haring x Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibition is coming to Melbourne’s NGV

Words by Anthony Graetz

Radical summer.

Two of the most significant and influential artists of the late twentieth century will come together to create an epic collaboration. Works from Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat will unite to create Keith Haring / Jean-Michel Basquiat: Crossing Lines.

Exclusive to Melbourne only, the exhibition will offer new insights to both artists and reveal the many connections between their artwork, practices and ideas.

Both Americans were radical street artists and dedicated their life’s work to strong social and political messages through graffiti. Their guerrilla activities subverted the stranglehold elitist institutions held over art and changed what people valued as artistic technique.

Keith Haring / Jean-Michel Basquiat: Crossing Lines will be open to the public from 1 December 2019 – 13 April 2020.
