Designed for experience.

Japanese homeware brand Muji recently announced its foray into the hotel sector, and is now officially taking bookings for its first property.

The Muji hotel in Shenzhen will open January 18, boasting 79 rooms reflecting the Muji philosophy. Spaces are designed for experience, with quality sleep at the forefront. Indirect lighting is used to release tension, paired with coil mattresses, super lush bath towels and Muji furnishings fitted throughout.

You can expect five different room types, ranging from 26m² to 61m², with interiors taking inspiration from traditional Chinese design. A brand new Muji store will also open on the second and third floors of the hotel, along with a Muji diner, library and gym.

The aim of the hotel is to reflect an ‘anti-cheap’, ‘anti-gorgeous’ concept. That is, affording customers great sleep at the right price.

While the Shenzhen hotel will open in just three short days, two more locations are set to open up in Beijing and Tokyo in the next year.
