Netflix is introducing choose-your-own-adventure TV

The future of bingeing.

For anybody who’s watched TV and thought “I could write this better,” Netflix is going to put you to the test.

The streaming service is developing new interactive features in some of its programs, giving viewers a say in what storylines they watch.

A simplified version of this format has already been included in children’s shows like Puss in Book, where kids can make choices about Puss in Boots’ adventures.

Unsurprisingly, the first grown-up series to get the choose-your-own-adventure treatment is Black Mirror.

One episode of the tech-centred show’s upcoming fifth season will allow viewers to control the plot, though there’s no word on how complex the feature will be.

Netflix is being pretty secretive about the whole thing, but the first of these interactive specials is set to drop before the end of the year.
