Blake Lively launches lifestyle website

“Sitting down to write this editor’s letter has been the hardest thing I’ve done yet on my Preserve journey.”

“Sitting down to write this editor’s letter has been the hardest thing I’ve done yet on my Preserve journey. I’m more intimidated than I should probably admit. I’m no editor, no artisan, no expert. And certainly no arbiter of what you should buy, wear, or eat. I am hungry, though… not just for enchiladas. I’m hungry for experience.”

Last year when Blake Lively announced her plans to launch her own website, we’ll admit we were sceptical. Though she’s been pretty vague about what the website actually is, people have drawn comparisons to Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle website goop.

The site has gone live, and while it’s definitely got a bit of a goop vibe, it’s less about how to achieve the perfect lifestyle, and more about appreciating the lifestyles that already exist around us, through a collection of stories, essays, videos and goods.

Part magazine, part e-commerce hub, part philanthropic endeavour, Preserve aims to inspire your home, style, food, and health. You can shop the stories through the website, and the company has partnered with Covenant House, an organisation that protects and serves homeless, trafficked and abused youth.

Though the website is a little bit difficult to navigate and we assume that critics will be quick to judge, a little digging reveals that Preserve isn’t all about Blake and expensive things. There are thoughtful stories, beautiful imagery, and a team of talented writers, photographers, and artisans. Still a little sceptical, but mostly a little relieved.

“With excitement and sincerity, Blake.”
