Playboy announces its first-ever transgender Playmate
She was chosen by Hef himself.
After the recent passing of Hugh Hefner last month, Playboy has announced the first transgender Playmate in its 64-year history.
Ines Rau first appeared in a standard Playboy shoot in 2014, but this is the first time the transgender model has graced the pages as a Playmate. The French model received her own centrefold editorial, in the November/December issue which honours Hef’s legacy.
“When I was doing this shoot, I was thinking of all those hard days in my childhood,” Rau said in her interview with the magazine.
“And now everything happening gives me so much joy and happiness. I thought, ‘am I really going to be a Playmate – me?’ It’s the most beautiful compliment I’ve ever received. It’s like getting a giant bouquet of roses.”
Rau revealed that Hefner had personally chosen her to be the magazine’s first transgender Playmate before he died last month.
