Get your popcorn ready.

What’s the logical next step after the US presidency? Making TV magic of course.

Barack and Michelle Obama have just signed off on a deal to produce a number of shows and movies for Netflix over the next few years.

There’s no word on what content the power couple will gift us with, however, Netflix has hinted it could be anything from scripted series and feature films to documentaries and unscripted shows. The power couple has emphasised they want to tell inspiring stories from a range of different voices.

“One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life, and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience,” said Barack in a press release. “That’s why Michelle and I are so excited to partner with Netflix—we hope to cultivate and curate the talented, inspiring, creative voices who are able to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples, and help them share their stories with the entire world.”

With 700 new shows set to drop on Netflix this year, it’s only a matter of time before we get one branded with the Obamas’ creative stamp.
