The OG Tamagotchi returns and the nostalgia is real

It’s back.

Brace yourselves for the return of a childhood classic.

Japanese toy manufacturer Bandai America is bringing back the good ol’ Tamagotchi, and it’s a true ’90s revival.

The old school toy will be re-released in eight new colourways and eight vintage styles, featuring the original packaging and programming from 1997.

This time ’round, expect some new additions. The rollout will see two Tamagotchi generations – Generation One, a character game that requires players to guess their pet’s next moves, and Generation Two, which involves a number guessing game.

The Tamagotchi re-release will be available for pre-order in the US on September 30. Sadly, there’s no word yet on when it’ll land in Aus. In the meantime, you can take care of your lil’ digital pet through the My Tamagotchi Forever app.
