Normal older people.
ICYMI, Sally Rooney’s 10-episode television adaptation of Normal People has been one of the most exciting things to happen so far in 2020.
The love story between Marianne and Connell featured some of the steamiest sex scenes we’ve seen on the telly, not to mention a single silver chain which garnered its own cult following (184,000 Instagram followers to date), and a ripper soundtrack.
Thankfully, another two-episode special of the Sally Rooney adaptation is reportedly on its way. Director Lenny Abrahamson is back, alongside the same production team and now-viral superstars Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones.

But the good news doesn’t stop there: the reprisal shows us where Marianne and Connell end up, 40 years after their university days. Made in conjunction with Comic Relief, the two-episode special, titled Normal Older People, apparently features a huge twist and a guest star cameo.
According to Comic Relief co-founder Richard Curtis, “It’s so much better than anything we’ve ever made. I mean I can’t even say all about it because there’s a guest star in it. But it’s really, really beautiful.”
While there are currently no plans for a second series, it’s evident the producers are aware of the show’s profile and are, thankfully, more than open to a reprisal. The Comic Relief special airs this Friday (tomorrow!), 8pm UK time. And while there’s no word yet on when it’ll appear on Australian streaming services, we have our fingers crossed that it’s on its way!
