Overdue.

We use reusable cups for our coffee, bring refillable water bottles to work and condemn the use of plastic straws. Our attitude to plastic has changed, except when it comes to our periods.

While the plastic wrapping for ordinary sanitary products is yet to change, a UK company has invented the world’s first reusable tampon applicator, D.

Yep, just plain old D. A Kickstarter project is currently funding the product which uses BPA free, leak-free, antimicrobial plastic to eradicate single-use applicators.

Instead of throwing out your old applicator, simply wipe D clean, rinse it under water and you’re good to go.

It fits every tampon size, and is heat resistant for sterilising purposes.

Still a bit confused as to how it works? Watch this.

Each D comes with its own reusable storage tin, travel pouch and six organic tampons.

The Kickstarter has already smashed its goal out of the park, which means your very own D could be on its way to you as soon as July 2018.

You can still pledge here.
