The hardest part is choosing just one.
If you’re feeling a little lonely and have been considering a companion, now might be the perfect time to act.
The RSPCA is running its biggest ever adoption drive this weekend in a mission to clear its shelters across the country.
From Friday to Sunday this week, all adoption fees will be lowered to $29. This includes adoptions of dogs and cats as well as smaller animals like bunnies, rats and guinea pigs.
If you’re in the market for a goat or chicken, that’s also an option.
Despite the discount fee, all regular adoption procedures will still be followed. Each animal looking for a home will be desexed, vaccinated and microchipped, and prospective adopters will be thoroughly vetted.
To find out if a shelter or care centre near you is getting involved, check out your state’s RSPCA website. Residents in Victoria and New South Wales can visit here and here.
