Avoid an unpleasant surprise.

Apple has introduced plenty of gadgets and gizmos over the years to help us keep an eye on our health and wellbeing.

Now, the company has announced the release of a health app that is probably overdue: a period tracker.

At this year’s Apple Worldwide Developer’s Conference, an app called Cycle Tracker was unveiled as a feature of the next Apple Watch.

The app will allow you to quickly enter data about your period, including timing, flow intensity and any symptoms you encounter. All that information will then be used to calculate when your next period will start, as well as when your fertile window occurs.

Cycle Tracker will also be available for iPhone, with the option to sync your records across multiple devices.

You’ll be able to download the app and receive notifications on devices using the soon-to-be-released watchOS 6 and iOS 13 operating systems.

Check out a preview of the tracker’s features in the gallery above.
