‘The Princess Bride’ is finally being made into a musical

Princess Bride fans, the time has finally come. The beloved ’80s film from your childhood is being made into a musical.

Thanks to Disney Theatre Productions, the William Goldman novel (and subsequent film) is set to be reworked for the stage.

Up until now, the prospects of a musical seemed, well, inconceivable, since previous efforts had failed to bring the production to life. Back in 2006, Goldman was set to collaborate with composer and lyricist Adam Guettel on the project, but the two eventually decided to part ways. 

While details at this point are few and far between, it’s been confirmed that Tony-winning composer David Yazbek has been signed on to score the musical adaption.

Whether or not the stage show will include giant rodents, only time will tell.
