The Anteroom: How to Dress Well

Words by Bianca O’neill

Impactful.

This experimental album – which plays as a continuous piece of psychedelic electro-art – is one for the more ambitious listeners out there, but spectacular nonetheless.

The soundscape is hauntingly beautiful, written during a period of Tom Krell’s self-described “cosmic loneliness” following Trump’s election to power.

This album was his anteroom, or space between the precipice of loneliness and a more stable life of security and certainty.

At a time when we’re witnessing huge shifts in the relationship between personal and political power, it’s emotional to listen to.

Harnessing insecurity in such an artful way, it has an impact that can’t be put into words, so perhaps just listen, and cry.
