Everything is Love: The Carters

Words by Bianca O’Neill

All over the place?

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have paired up for this new album under the moniker The Carters.

Originally only available on Tidal, it’s now thankfully streaming across other platforms. But unfortunately for Bey and Jay, it really hasn’t made the kind of waves you’d expect from the stellar pairing.

I’d suggest the joint release was made solely to coincide with their joint world tour, and the short nine-track release certainly hints at that. But is it good? Well, when we’re talking the laid-back ‘Summer’ and ‘Friends’, it’s more reminiscent of a rejected Beyoncé track… meh. Then you’re hit with nuggets like first single ‘Apeshit’ and ‘Lovehappy’, and you’re totally sold.

It’s a bit all over the place, really.
