Jess Hitchcock releases debut LP

Words by Ruby Staley

Just in time for NAIDOC week.

Earlier this year Jess Hitchcock was in Israel performing at Eurovision, singing solo back-up vocals for Australia’s contestant, Kate Miller-Heidke.

Now flying solo, the Melbourne-based award-winning singer-songwriter has released her highly-anticipated LP, Bloodline.

Drawing inspiration from her Saibai Torres Strait Island and Papua New Guinean roots, she mixes the sweet sounds of her ukulele with mesmerising vocals for the collection of breezy folk tunes.

With beautifully honest lyrics, Bloodline takes you on a journey through love, loss and self-discovery.

In an ode to her heritage, identity and femininity, Jess dedicated the album to her mother.

Bloodline is now available on streaming services iTunes and Spotify, or find tickets see Jess perform at the Melbourne Recital Centre’s Salon on 25 of September here.
