Melbourne Music Week unveils full 2018 program

Jam packed.

It didn’t take long for the full Melbourne Music Week program to arrive following the first lineup announcement last month, and it’s pretty darn impressive.

The Australian Centre for Moving Image (ACMI) is this year’s official festival hub, but there’ll be events spread out across the city. Bars and venues like Section 8, Flemington Bowls Club, the NGV Great Hall, Ferdydurke and the Meat Market will be getting in on the action, and there’ll even be some trams involved.

Rockers You Am I will be taking over Melbourne Town Hall, incorporating its historic Grand Organ into their set for a special MMW show. They’ll be joined by Gareth Liddiard from The Drones and Tropical Fuck Storm, as well as local punk-outfit Clowns.

The Civic Sounds day party at Cherry Bar continues with the rock ’n’ roll theme, fronted by long-standing legends Regurgitator, as well as Hiatus Kaiyote vocalist, Nai Palm.

For some sensory immersion, The Toff will become a pitch-black room of synths, loops, guitars, drums and bass in The Dark Space Project, and there’ll be a bunch of VR experiences on at ACMI, too.

Victorian not-for-profit The Push will be throwing a free, all-ages Push Over party to celebrate its 30th year, featuring guest artists Allday, Ali Barter, Ruby Fields and Triple J Unearthed winner, Kian. Jebediah, Spiderbait and Something For Kate will also be dropping in, making for one stacked lineup.

There’ll even be bands taking to the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel, in a rotating musical roster programmed by Melbourne DJ MzRizk.

This is only a taste of the full 2018 program, so check it out and start taking note.

Melbourne Music Week runs from Friday November 16 to Saturday November 24. Head to the website for dates, tickets and times.
