NOIRE: Baby Blue EP premiere

You’re going to be feeling that first-love heartbreak.

Take a trip down memory lane. You’re going to be feeling that first-love heartbreak and nostalgia for love lost bubble back to the surface.

NOIRE are a trio from Sydney made up of Jessica Mincher (keys, vocals), Billy James (guitar) and Chris Stewart (bass).

They’re releasing their debut EP, Baby Blue, on Friday and we’re premiering the whole thing a little early. They released ‘Those Days’ about a year ago, followed by ‘Just Like Honey’ a few months ago and more recently, their title track, ‘Baby Blue’. The EP has two fresh tracks including ‘Pilgrims’ and ‘Minds’.

The music conjures images of the American plains. Long desert roads, wide expanses, remote gas stations and Southern dive bars. Makes sense because they’ve just gotten back from a string of shows around the States.

Jessica’s vocals lull you into a dreamlike state. It’s hopeful and sombre but leaves you a little bit weathered. They took inspiration from American poet, Allen Ginsberg, Coppola films and French duo, Air. Hypnotic dream-pop at its best.

The EP was recorded by award-winning producer, Wayne Connolly (Silverchair, Youth Group, The Vines), and features guest drumming from Luke Davidson (The Preatures).

NOIRE are playing at Surry Hills Festival in Sydney on Saturday, September 26. Ready for the feels.
