The FJ team’s most beloved pieces we’re looking to rehome

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH EBAY
WORDS BY DAISY HENRY

Shop our wardrobes.

In case you missed it, the Fashion Journal team are selling our wardrobes on eBay for anyone (that’s you!) to browse and bid on. As part of the ‘Shop our Wardrobe’ project, we’ve evaluated our wardrobes and taken stock of the pieces that we’ve been holding on to for far too long.

The beauty of pre-loved fashion is the endless lives a garment can live, and we’re hoping the same for our pieces. That Paris Georgia bustier that no longer fits Georgina might become someone’s most loved piece. In the hands of someone new, the Khaite long-sleeve top Giulia’s worn only once could be completely reimagined. The Paloma Wool dress Lara never picks up might soon be worn to death.

For many of us on the team, working on this project has been a nice refresher on how easy selling your wardrobe can be. From eBay’s listing tool to its pricing indicator tool, there are plenty of hacks for selling items on eBay. Read below for a glimpse at some of the pieces we’re listing on Fashion Journal’s eBay store, then browse and bid on our wardrobes here.

Paloma Wool dress

Sold by: Lara Daly, Fashion Journal’s Features Editor

My Paloma Wool dress is one of those pieces that I’d love if I saw someone else wearing it, but I just haven’t figured out how to incorporate it into my everyday wardrobe. It’s also a little too big for me now. I think it would be a hot bodycon dress on someone with more curves, but it can also be work-appropriate (maybe worn with black knee-high boots?). The fabric is stretchy, firm and warm, so it’s a good transeasonal piece too.

Bassike knit skirt

Sold by: Daisy Henry, Fashion Journal’s Assistant Editor

Bassike is one of those brands that always stand the test of time. The shape of this knit skirt has held perfectly but sadly, it’s a bit too long for me and I can’t quite make the fit work. I think it’s time to replace it with something similar because I love the style, so I’m hoping this sale will help fund my next purchase. The weather’s also starting to get warmer, so it deserves an afternoon out, styled with a simple white tank, some cute sunnies and slides.

Khaite top

Sold by: Giulia Brugliera, Fashion Journal’s Managing Editor

I adore this Khaite top but sadly, it’s one of those pieces that doesn’t quite suit me, though I’ve tried. After multiple attempts, it always ends up back on the hanger in my wardrobe for ’next time’. It’s been hanging there for two years now, so I think it’s time to move it on and replace it with something I’ll get much more wear out of.

I envision it with an oversized barrel jean in a similar neutral colour, but it would also layer well for a dressier occasion, maybe with a structured skirt that has a bit of volume. It’s a very regrettable sale, so I hope someone deserving snaps it up!

Nike Cortez shoes

Sold by: Cait Emma Burke, freelance fashion writer and Fashion Journal contributor

I’m a long-time fan of Nike Cortez and when I spotted these green suede ones while in South Korea, I knew I had to have them. But for some reason, each time I try to style them, I can’t get it quite right and I hate seeing them gathering dust in my wardrobe. My prediction sneaker-wise is that the Cortez is going to be the next big thing, so I know some savvy buyers will give these the wear they deserve.

Paris Georgia top

Sold by: Georgina Woolcock, Fashion Journal’s Partnerships and Campaign Executive

I wrote about this top when I first purchased it and, despite it only being in stock in a size too big for me, I loved it. I had my eye on the style from when it was first released and was so desperate to get my hands on it before it was gone forever. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to alter the top in a way that was wearable for me, so I’m having to let it go.

I still love the piece and now that some time has passed, there are a few options in the smaller size available for sale on eBay, so once my piece is snapped up, it’s likely I’ll look to repurchase it. Fashion is circular, after all!

St Agni trousers

Sold by: Daisy Henry, Fashion Journal’s Assistant Editor

St Agni is one of my favourite Australian brands and I’m only selling these because I own far too many pairs of their pants already. The wide-leg fit is timeless and the tie-up belt adds a distinctive flair. I loved wearing them with a simple knit for work, or with a strapless top and boots for something more formal. Hopefully, someone deserving ends up with these because they really are special!

Wales Bonner x Adidas shoes

Sold by: Ella Taverner, Fashion Journal Contributor

As a big Wales Bonner fan, I bought these shoes back in 2021 as a bit of a mid-lockdown treat. I love everything about them – the colour, the shape, the chunky soles. After wearing them a few times, I was left with no choice but to sadly concede that they were a size too small (cry).

Reebok Instampump Fury shoes

Sold by: Giulia Brugliera, Fashion Journal’s Managing Editor

I’ve had these sneakers for more years than I care to remember and they’ve served me very well in that time. I’m pretty understated in the way that I dress and these shoes have always added that extra ‘oomph’ that a fashion editor’s wardrobe demands. They’re still in great condition, given how well they’ve been worn (I think that’s in part due to the height and heft of the shoe), so have plenty of years left in them. I spotted them in the back of my wardrobe recently where they’ve gone untouched for way too long, so I’m ready for them to find their next home.
