How-to: Sweat-proof your summer makeup

Glowing.

As the sun gets more intense, nailing your makeup routine becomes crucial. If you don’t want your makeup melting off by 12pm, that is.

Global makeup artist for Napoleon Perdis, Shev Kelly, has prepped us with a step-by-step guide to creating the ultimate summer face. Cream products for the win.

Step 1: Prep and prime

Protect your face, neck and décolletage from the sun with a high, broad-spectrum SPF then prep your skin with an extra boost of hydration and subtle warmth using a bronzing primer. Keep your lips chap-free using a clear lip treatment/balm.

Step 2: Lashes and brows

Add a hint of definition with a black waterproof mascara and shape the brows with a clear brow mascara.

Step 3: Base

Add a touch of coverage with a natural finish using a tinted moisturiser all over and a creamy concealer over spots or discolourations.

Step 4: Cheeks

Achieve a fresh and youthful flush to the cheeks using a soft cream pink blush. Add luminosity and highlight the skin using Light Switch Luminizer Palette.

Step 5: Eyes

Create a beach-friendly golden glow using a cream highlighter in gold or bronze. Tap over the eyelids and inner corner of the eye.

Step 6: Lips

Add a hint of colour to your lips using a pink cheek stain tapped on with your fingertips.
