How it feels/smells/looks

Heading into summer I was a nice shade of white, so I was looking to change up my tanning game and get some summer bronze going.

I’ve tried a couple of Bali Body products before and was interested to try the brand’s first self-tanner. Usually, my number one qualm with tanning is the smell. However, I have to say, the scent is one of the best things about this product. I can barely smell anything at all when it goes on the skin.

As I am generally quite fair, I’m apprehensive of going too dark when tanning. This was particularly worrying as the Bali Body self-tanner only arrives in one shade (dark). But I was pleasantly surprised as the result was natural and not too dark at all! You know you’re winning the fake tanning game when someone at the gym approaches you and says, ‘love your tan, where have you been to?’

Why I like it

Beyond the smell factor and natural colour, I like how easy it is to apply. The product applies to the skin dark, so you can see a slight line of where you have and haven’t gone. It’s super easy to apply with the mitt and it’s hard to go too overboard with the product. It lasts a decent amount of time before fading – I would say at least four days. The other thing I like is that it doesn’t wear off patchy. It fades quite well for a self-tanner and doesn’t leave too many crazy patches of light and dark – big tick.

Lastly, the formula is natural, streak-free, 100 per cent vegan and suitable for all skin types.

Areas for improvement

My one issue with this product is that it does transfer – even after your first shower, you’ll definitely find residue on your bedsheets (which drives my boyfriend nuts). But other than this, it’s a pretty solid fake tan and a nice price point too!
