Searching for a scent with a little je ne sais quoi.

Although Miss La Niña has spent the past few months rearing her ugly head in a bid to keep us indoors, the festive season is well and truly upon us which means warmer days are just around the corner.

My birthday falls in November and being the extra Scorpio that I am, I always ensure a new summer fragrance is top of the birthday wish list. In the same way that my friends opt for new swimwear or sunglasses to welcome the warmer months, I place great importance on my sniffy escapades to the city ready to canvass out a new aromatic treat.

We like nosy people. Don’t be shy, head to our Beauty section for more.

One of the great perks of working for a fashion publication is the abundance of beauty gifts we receive to trial and test. So, in the spirit of giving back this holiday season, I’ve spilled on my favourite summer fragrances to shop for you or a loved one.

Molecule 01 + Patchouli by Escentric Molecules

If you’re remotely tuned into the world of fragrance then I have no doubt you’re well acquainted with Escentric Molecules, a pioneer in celebrating perfumery as the art of chemistry. What started as a single fragrance moulded around the creation of a unique aroma molecule has seen the brand evolve into a global leader in the beauty industry.

Its most recent release is a spin-off of the iconic Molecule 01 scent, with an added note of patchouli. Sophisticated and woody, the scent adapts throughout the day leaving a unique aroma on each individual.

Featuring a soft base of coconut musk and ambergris, it strikes a perfect balance between sweet and woody. Reminiscent of hazy summer evenings, top notes of copper, cream and peach create a unique scent to wear solo or pair with your everyday favourite scent.

Okay, don’t let the name put you off. I know when I think of rose-scented fragrances I’m immediately transported to my grandma’s bedroom vanity, but hear me out when I tell you this is different. A modern and refreshing take on the queen of flowers, Eau Rose is teamed with fresh green accents and fruity notes to create a balanced aroma that manages to be both floral and romantic yet not too sweet.
