The best of the best.
When it comes to lip balm you’re either indifferent or deeply passionate about one specific product, and there’s just no in-between. At Fashion Journal, we’re nosy – particularly when it comes to beauty products. We love to know the nitty-gritty of your beauty routine and the products you purchase time and time again.
We like nosy people. Don’t be shy, head to our Beauty section for more.
For a lot of people, lip balm is likely one of the most frequently purchased products in their arsenal. As any lip product connoisseur will know, you need one for your nightstand, car, desk and handbag, plus one to regularly leave in your pocket and put through the washing machine. Here, six Australian beauty lovers share their all-time favourite lip balm.

I’m known for always having multiple lip balms on me at any given time but the one I always reach for is Augustinus Bader’s The Lip Balm. As soon as I swipe this bad boy on (which feels like pure silk, BTW), it immediately locks in moisture so it gives me a slight plumping effect, which we love. The Augustinus Bader hero ingredient, TFC8, supports cell renewal and acts as a roadmap, guiding key nutrients and ingredients to cells that need a bit of TLC. I’m just going to say, judging from the five tubes scattered around my apartment with varying amounts left, this isn’t going anywhere out of my life anytime soon!

My go-to lippie is the Australis Cosmetics Lip Glaze. I typically wear Mocha Melt (a brown-girl-approved neutral), but I own and love them all. I literally won’t shut up about this affordable gem – the formula is better than most of the spenny lip oils I’ve tried!

I use so many different lip balms, and I go through phases of being obsessed with one for a while and then forgetting it exists. But the one I have been repurchasing for three years straight is the Frank Body Cherry Bomb Lip Tint. It’s everything you want out of a lip balm – super hydrating but it almost feels like a jelly and it’s not thick, gloopy or sticky at all. It has a sheer tint, so if you’re like me and have naturally pale lips, this will bring your face to life. It lasts on the lips, and it’s affordable which is essential for a product that you’ll be loving this much.

This is so hard for me. Lip balm is a specialty category of mine, and I have many favourites. For nighttime, the Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Lip Gloss Balm is unbelievably good. It’s thick and sticky (in a great way, trust me) and I wake up in the morning and can still feel it on my lips. One of my favourites for day-to-day is the Laneige Lip Glowy Balm in Berry because it has a truly perfect gloss to it and again, excellent lasting power. [And] Shout Out to the Ole Henrikson Pout Preserve Peptide Lip Treatment… please cut me off or I’ll just keep going.

I’ve raved about Dr Lipp’s lip balm on FJ before, and with good reason. I have chronically dry lips (a leftover effect of years spent on Roaccutane to treat my cystic acne) and this is the only lip product on the market that keeps them chap-free without me having to reapply it every 20 minutes. It’s 100 per cent medical-grade lanolin and is multipurpose – I sometimes use it to add a sheen to my cheeks and eyelids, or on any other part of my body that’s feeling particularly dry. It’s a must-have.

I love the Rhode Lip Peptide Treatment. Anytime I’m in the US or London I buy a few and it’s a great product. Hydrating, long-lasting and so cute! If only they’d ship to Australia!
