Top Three: Melbourne makeup artist Rose Letho shares her holy grail beauty products

WORDS BY CAIT EMMA BURKE

“Its texture and luminosity are insane! No greasy or sticky texture either.”

I’m a notoriously nosy person when it comes to products. I want to know whether you double cleanse at night, and if so which cleansers you use.

I want to know if there’s some special hair contraption or pair of tweezers that have (hyperbole warranted) changed your life. I want to know what curl definer you use and which lip balm you swear by.

But my interest in products doesn’t just pertain to the world of beauty – I’m always eager to hear about an air fryer that someone loves so much they’ve convinced their entire extended family to get one, or a laptop stand that’s corrected their posture and improved their quality of life by at least 25 per cent.

In short, I adore products. This is why I’ve asked some of our favourite Australian beauty and skincare influencers for their top three products, AKA the products they simply cannot live without. The scope is broad – it can genuinely be any three products, as long as they’re the three they value the most.

Joining us this week is Australian makeup artist, Rose Letho. Rose is a much-loved makeup artist in the Melbourne and Sydney creative scenes, painting faces for local labels like Karla Laidlaw, Sabi and Raga Malak.

Globally, she was recently on the makeup team for Isamaya Ffrench at London and Paris Fashion Week, where she worked on shows for Junya Watanabe, among others. She’s accrued quite the resume in the beauty world as well as some top-notch product knowledge over the years, so here are her all-time favourite products.

Product one: Isamaya Skinlacq Triple Hyaluronic Glow Serum

How did you first discover this product?

I worked on Isamaya Ffrench’s makeup team during London and Paris Fashion Week this September and got to work with this serum

What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?

This is a lightweight, glassy, non-sticky, non-greasy, hyaluronic acid face serum. Three different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid penetrate deeper into the skin, delivering stronger hydration. Its texture and luminosity are insane! No greasy or sticky texture either.

Where would you find it and who would you recommend it to?

Via Isamaya’s website for a pretty penny as it is converted from USD to AUD. [It’s] for anyone that loves shine.

Product two: Naked Sundays SPF50+ Collagen Glow 100% Mineral Perfecting Priming Lotion

How did you first discover this product?

My work bestie and friend Madison got sent this product so we both tried it and it is the GOAT! My skin reacts badly to chemical sunscreen so I was so happy to have finally discovered a good mineral-based zinc sunscreen with no fragrance and SPF 50+!

What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?

It is a vegan collagen, mineral-based 50+ SPF sunscreen!

Where would you find it and who would you recommend it to?

On their website or at Mecca of course! Everyone should be wearing 50+ SPF, especially if you live in Australia like us!

Product three: Dermal Therapy Lip Balm

How did you first discover this product?

I first discovered this product in 2017 when I went on Accutane. It saved my lips and is now a kit essential.

What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?

It is a lip therapy product that hydrates, repairs and acts as a barrier to protect lips from losing moisture keeping the skin around the mouth soft.

Where would you find it and who would you recommend it to?

I would recommend it to anyone, especially those who suffer from intensely dry lips or those who are on Accutane.
