We road tested face masks so you can glow up

Mask off.

What better way to welcome the new year than by washing away all of 2019’s impurities. We road tested five face masks promising to do just that.

Brand: Sand & Sky
Name: Brilliant Skin Purifying Pink Clay Mask
From: sandandsky.com
Price: $69.90
I’m calling it. This is the best face mask on the market right now. The formula visibly brightened my complexion and gave my skin a healthy glow for several days after use. My acne was also positively impacted, with a slight reduction in size and redness of blemishes (no easy feat). Bonus points awarded for the accompanying application brush.

Brand: Sukin
Name: Super Greens Detoxifying Clay Masque
From:  sukinorganics.com
Price: $16.95
For $17, I wasn’t expecting to be wowed by Sukin’s mask. And, while my skin did feel fresher and slightly softer after use, it’s no game changer. Sure, it glides on easily and doesn’t feel too drying once on, but in the end it gets a solid ‘OK’ from me.

Brand: Blaq
Name: Mask Tube
From: blac.co
Price: $24.99
I’ve always wanted to try a charcoal peel face mask, and this was a great place to start. The formula is extremely thick and dries completely within 10 minutes. I’ll be honest – peeling it off kind of hurts, but the payoff is worth it. The mask comes off in one piece, so you’re not left with charcoal all over your face, removing impurities with ease. If you’re looking for a quick-fix blackhead remover, we’ve found it.

Brand: Kiehl’s
Name: Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque
From: kiehls.com.au
Price: $35
This mask is super thick and feels like you’re smearing pure clay on your face, in the best possible way. The white clay works to remove impurities and dirt (working super well for blackheads) and leaves your skin feeling cleansed and refreshed. It also contains oatmeal for anti-irritation, which gets a big tick from me.

Brand: Sisley
Name: Black Rose Cream Mask
From: sisley-paris.com
Price: $180
If I’m paying $180 for a 60ml face mask, I expect the ingredients to come from the Fountain of Youth. And with Sisley, I’m pleasantly surprised. Unlike many other face masks on the market, this product doesn’t leave heaps of residue on your face. Instead, the creamy texture melts into your skin, leaving your complexion soft, plump and rose-scented.
