Top Three: Australian content creator Tatenda Luna shares her holy grail beauty products

WORDS BY CAIT EMMA BURKE

“I read all of its uses and was immediately sold. That mixed with the claim that this mixture was used by Cleopatra herself has made it a staple ever since.”

I’m a notoriously nosy person when it comes to products. I want to know whether you double cleanse at night, and if so which cleansers you use. I want to know if there’s some special hair contraption or pair of tweezers that have (hyperbole warranted) changed your life. I want to know what curl definer you use and which lip balm you swear by.

But my interest in products doesn’t just pertain to the world of beauty – I’m always eager to hear about an air fryer that someone loves so much they’ve convinced their entire extended family to get one, or a laptop stand that’s corrected their posture and improved their quality of life by at least 25 per cent.

In short, I adore products. This is why I’ve asked some of our favourite Australian creatives for their top three products, AKA the products they simply cannot live without. The scope is broad – it can genuinely be any three products, as long as they’re the three they value the most.

Joining us this week is Tatenda Luna, a Melbourne-based content creator and beauty fanatic. If, like me, you want to know what she has on high rotation (and how she achieves her luminous complexion), below she shares her three favourite beauty products of all time.

Product one: Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

How did you first discover this product?

My first introduction to Laneige was the vanilla Lip Sleeping Mask so when I saw they had a sleep mask for your face it was really a no-brainer! It was also just the beginning of the K-beauty wave so I was trying anything and everything I could get my hands on.

What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?

I once explained to a friend that every time I use it I wake up looking like I’ve slept with a sheet mask on! Sometimes I use it on my no-makeup days for extra glowy and moisturised skin. I also use it as skin prep when I know I’m wearing makeup for more than six hours which is usually on my day trips to Sydney and we all know how much the air on the plane dries out your skin! Aside from being incredibly hydrating but light-weight it also has probiotics that really help heal your skin barrier which is a major plus for me.

Where would you find it and who would you recommend it to?

I’d recommend it to anyone who doesn’t feel like they have time for a sheet mask but wants a hydration boost for glowy glass skin. You can find it at Sephora, Adore Beauty or your fave K-beauty store.

Product two: Egyptian Magic Cream

How did you first discover this product?

I first discovered this when I was in uni! I was given a Myer gift card for my birthday and I was trying to find something worth $20 that would give me a real bang for my buck. Luckily this cream was on sale. I read all of its uses and was immediately sold. That mixed with the claim that this mixture was used by Cleopatra herself has made it a staple ever since.

What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?

What doesn’t it do? It can be used to soothe burns, blisters, cuts, razor bumps and ingrown hairs, insect bites, dry skin, chapped lips and dry scalps. I’ve used it as a shaving cream and body moisturiser and heated it up for a hot oil treatment! Egyptian Magic Cream can also be used as a leg and facial shaving cream, an aftershave lotion, a body moisturiser, a cuticle oil, body massage oil and as a hot oil hair masque to help tame frizz.

It’s all-natural and free from sulphates, parabens and silicones. It’s been a real lifesaver when my skin has reacted to something which is quite often since I’m always trying out new products for content. Whenever my skin needs a break I’ll use this! It also has bee pollen in it which helps hair growth and health – it truly is an all-rounder!

Where would you find it and who would you recommend it to?

You can find this at Priceline or online at Adore Beauty. I’d recommend it to anyone and everyone for a no-fuss easy solution to almost anything!

How did you first discover this product?

I discovered Holme Beauty a few years ago at a time when inclusive makeup brands were few and far between in Australia. I loved everything Hilary Holmes and her brand stood for! This setting spray is a new and recent addition to the Holme Beauty collection and I’ve been using it almost every day since!

What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?

Its primary function is a setting spray. I like to use it with or without makeup and to refresh my makeup during the day. It has amazing ingredients like hyaluronic acid and kakadu plum which makes it so hydrating for someone whose skin tends to dry out a little!

But the best part is the soft light-reflecting particles that give the setting spray its name. It really does look like my skin has caught the golden hour glow of the sun and it lasts all day! I find myself skipping adding a highlighter to my makeup because this spray does just the trick! A dewy golden glow without an oily finish.

Where would you find it and who would you recommend it to?

I’d recommend this for anyone who wants to boost their makeup with a youthful glowy finish or anyone who wants a truly no-makeup cheat code to glass skin! You can find it at Holme Beauty.
