Role Description
Alpha60 is an independent Melbourne label with a considered approach to design.We are seeking an experienced Garment Technician & Production Manager to join our team on a full-time, 10-month maternity leave contract. This is a hands-on role with a strong technical focus, working closely alongside our Garment Technician and Head of Design to lead garment specification, fit development, and end-to-end production.
You will play a key role in translating design intent into precise, production-ready outcomes — ensuring all styles are executed with accuracy from initial tech packs through to bulk production, while maintaining product integrity, quality, and timelines across all stages.
ABOUT YOU
- 5+ years’ experience in garment technology and/or apparel production.
- Advanced capability in technical specification writing (tech packs), grading, and garment construction.
- Strong understanding of fit, pattern making and interpretation, and manufacturing processes.
- High-level pattern-making knowledge, with the ability to confidently assess patterns and resolve fit issues.
- Advanced Adobe Illustrator skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate technical flats and documentation.
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues early.
- Confident managing multiple styles, timelines, and supplier relationships simultaneously.
- Clear and concise communicator, particularly in technical documentation and supplier direction.
- Proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused.
- Experience with Airtable or similar systems preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the design team throughout development to ensure garments align with design intent, fit, and quality standards.
- Lead the development and execution of detailed technical specifications (tech packs), ensuring accuracy in measurements, construction, grading, and finishing.
- Manage end-to-end production from proto through to bulk, maintaining critical path timelines and on-time delivery.
- Coordinate and run fit sessions (proto, SMS, PP), providing clear technical, construction, and fit feedback.
- Prepare and manage order documentation, specifications, and supplier communications, ensuring accuracy and deadlines are met.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with offshore suppliers, managing production, approvals, and issue resolution.
- Assist Design team to source fabrics, trims, and accessories, and onboard new suppliers where required.
- Oversee sample tracking, incoming materials, and production workflow, ensuring all items are actioned efficiently.
- Maintain accurate Airtable data across timelines, production status, costings, and shipment tracking.
- Monitor quality across all stages, including pre-production and shipment approvals.
- Manage costings and support margin targets in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
- Plan and coordinate shipments, including freight bookings, consolidation, and delivery timelines.
- Oversee shipping documentation, invoices, and communication with the warehouse, logistics, and accounts.
- Monitor packaging stock, re-orders, and production-related operational requirements.
- Track freight costs, timelines, and delays, ensuring clear communication and resolution.
