As the Design Room Assistant, you will work closely with all Design team members. Your role will be to support the designer throughout the entire creative process, following through on concepts to a level ready to handover to offshore teams. You will be responsible for ensuring that the product is developed in line with the designer’s vision and direction.
This role is based at our Sydney Head Office on the Northern Beaches, reporting directly to the Design Room Manager, as well as working collaboratively alongside the Designer. This is a full-time position. As is for all staff, you are expected to uphold, safeguard, and promote POSSE’s core values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, integrity, and responsible behaviour.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Designer to coordinate fabric and trim sourcing.
- Management of all trim and fabric inventory within the design and production room.
- Review and file all lab dips and strike offs in collaboration with Design and Production and liaise with suppliers to ensure comments are effectively communicated and executed.
- Work with suppliers to ensure samples and deliveries are on schedule.
- Ensure sample packs are sent in an efficient manner to meet deadlines.
- Create barcodes to offshore suppliers.
- Creation of all style codes.
- Sample room management and prepare for handover of all collection assets to wider POSSE teams.
- QC check all SMS on receipt and assist with showroom set-up for seasonal Range Review meetings.
- Prepare all garments for fittings.
- Maintain all admin for design and development, by managing and tracking all development
- samples, including managing the design CP and visual boards.
- Create detailed tech packs, providing accurate information and development of initial garment specifications.
- Receipt in all DHL parcels.
- Prepare and send all packages to offshore suppliers.
- Be able to prioritize and reprioritize based on the ever-changing needs of the business.
- Attend weekly design WIP.
- Assist on all Look-book Photoshoots and campaigns when needed.
- Assist with look book creation when required.
- Assist with design sketches, coloured CADS, mood boards and range board creations.
- Perform any ad-hoc errands relating to the development of the collections.
- Always keep the design room neat and tidy.
KEY SKILLS
- Completion of a Fashion Certificate IV, diploma, or degree, showcasing your dedication to the craft.
- Proficiency in CAD sketching, enabling you to bring designs to life visually.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, ensuring efficient communication and organisation.
- Photoshop skills (ideal but not essential) to enhance your design work.
- A deep understanding of fabrics and prints, enabling you to make informed design decisions.
- Technical garment construction skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, as it is the small elements that truly elevate our designs.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication, with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work autonomously and unsupervised.
- A highly organised individual who enjoys the dynamics of a design environment
