Role Description
We’re looking for an experienced Head of Retail to lead our growing resale business and shape the next stage of Goodbyes.
As Head of Retail, you’ll have the opportunity to influence how Goodbyes grows — from strengthening retail performance and developing leadership capability, to supporting new store openings and building scalable ways of working.
About You
You’re commercially minded, comfortable working with data and KPIs, and equally passionate about coaching and developing leaders. You’re practical and solutions-focused, with the ability to build systems without creating unnecessary complexity. Most importantly, you’re someone who takes ownership, raises the bar and brings people with you.
What You’ll bring to goodbyes
You’re an experienced retail leader with a strong background in multi-site retail management. You thrive in dynamic, evolving environments. Ideally, you’ll bring:
- 3+ years’ experience in multi-site retail, area management, regional management or retail operations.
- A proven track record of leading and developing Store Managers.
- Strong commercial, KPI management and analytical skills.
- Excellent coaching, communication and performance management skills.
- A practical, systems-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- An interest in fashion, resale and more intentional ways of shopping.

- Store Managers are impactful and autonomous leaders.
- Retail performance consistently meets or exceeds KPIs.
- Customers experience a consistent Goodbyes standard across every location.
- There’s a strong pipeline of future retail leaders.
- Training, systems and operational processes support continued growth.
- New locations can be launched successfully and efficiently.
The Details
Employment: Full-time, 5 days per week, permanent
Location: Melbourne, with interstate travel
Reporting to: CEO & CGO
Direct reports: Store Managers
Salary: Negotiable based on experience
Incentive: Performance-based bonus, assessed and paid every six months

Key Responsibilities
Drive retail performance
- Own retail KPIs and performance across all locations, using data and reporting to identify opportunities and solve problems.
- Set clear expectations, accountability and performance standards for Store Managers.
- Implement consistent retail processes, standards and ways of working.
Develop impactful leaders
- Lead, coach and develop high-performing Store Managers.
- Own the retail training framework and ensure Store Managers can effectively develop their teams.
- Identify capability gaps, succession opportunities and future leaders.
Elevate the customer and store experience
- Maintain consistently high standards across customer experience, store presentation and operational execution.
- Set the standard for the Goodbyes service style, ensuring our teams deliver meaningful experiences.
Support growth and expansion
- Support new store openings and expansion initiatives.
- Develop scalable retail systems, processes and leadership structures.
- Contribute to broader business strategy and cross-functional growth initiatives.
- Help build a retail network that becomes increasingly autonomous as Goodbyes grows.
