Bec and Bridge
Junior Merchandise Planner
| company: | Bec and Bridge |
| job title: | Junior Merchandise Planner |
| location: | Waterloo |
| work type: | Full-time |
| level: | Junior |
Role Description
We’re looking for a Junior Planner to join our Merchandise function: someone analytical, curious and commercially minded who thrives on turning data into decisions that matter. This role sits at the intersection of planning, trading and strategy, supporting the team to ensure we have the right product, in the right place, at the right time.
You’ll work closely with the wider Merchandise team and cross-functional partners across buying, operations and eCommerce, playing a key role in the day-to-day and the seasonal big picture.
ABOUT YOU
Beyond the technical skills, we’re looking for someone who embodies the Bec and Bridge way of working:
- Kind, approachable and genuinely collaborative. You make the people around you better.
- A calm, confident communicator who can present data clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive and solutions-focused. You look for ways to improve, not just maintain.
- Adaptable and resilient. You stay grounded under pressure and take ownership of your work.
- Passionate about fashion and excited by the idea of contributing to a brand that genuinely means something.
Key Responsibilities
COMMERCIAL PERFORMANCE AND REPORTING
- Prepare and communicate accurate daily, weekly and seasonal trade reports, identifying key sales drivers, trends and variances against plan.
- Monitor stock availability across all regions and channels, flagging risks and recommending actions to optimise inventory.
- Conduct historical analysis and data preparation for seasonal planning and range reviews, translating complex data into clear commercial recommendations.
- Track and report on new product post-launch performance including early sales reactions, channel contribution and regional patterns.
- Conduct detailed size curve analysis to support accurate forecasting and sizing decisions.
ALLOCATIONS AND MARKDOWN
- Own the end-to-end allocations process, driving seasonal and initial allocations across all channels based on historical performance, stock levels and capacity.
- Manage the full markdown cycle: identify slow sellers and aged stock, collaborate on markdown strategy, execute pricing in AP21, and conduct post-event analysis.
- Maintain SKU-level reports and core line cards, completing ad hoc analysis as required.
COLLABORATION
- Actively support the department’s critical path, ensuring all data, reporting and analysis deadlines are met.
- Partner daily with buying, operations and eCommerce, listening, contributing and respectfully challenging where needed
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
ESSENTIAL
- 2 plus years of experience in merchandise planning or a highly analytical role within retail or e-commerce.
- Strong numeracy and analytical capability, comfortable interpreting large datasets, drawing insights and making clear commercial recommendations.
- Advanced Excel skills, including building and maintaining complex reports and managing large data sets.
- Proven exposure to inventory management and forecasting principles.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
ADVANTAGEOUS
- Experience in apparel retail.
- Familiarity with WSSI management, open-to-buy or range planning.
- Experience with TRS or similar planning systems.
