WORDS BY DAISY HENRY
Consider our Christmas wishlists sorted.
Perhaps I’m a little late to the party, but I’ve just started to fully realise the power of accessorising. Having attended my first Melbourne Fashion Week, I was constantly in awe not only of the outfits people were wearing, but of the ways they used jewellery, hair clips and trinkets to add a personal flair to their look.

As per my tendency to hyper-fixate on one thing, I’ve used this newfound realisation to hone in on a specific accessory I haven’t thought about since the early aughts: the bangle. Maybe because it feels so nostalgic, or maybe because it’s an unexpectedly chic way to add some drama to an outfit. Either way, here at FJ HQ we’ve decided to take it and run with it.

Saint Valentine Wabi Sabi Cuff

I never thought of myself as a bangle girlie but recently, as I’ve been taking in the incredible street style in Melbourne, I’m noticing bangles. Specifically, a singular silver or gold cuff worn high on the wrist – chic. I’m more of a minimalist when it comes to jewellery, so this curvy Wabi Sabi cuff from Sydney label Saint Valentine is top of my wishlist.

Lott Studio 443 Bracelet
I love this Lott Studio piece in silver. I’m typically a white-gold girl but would love to mix a piece like this in with my everyday gold jewellery to create a more mixed metal look. It’s hand-carved which also means each piece is just a little different, making it that bit more bit special.

Scanlan Theodore Italian Resin Bangle
Ever since I decided I needed a bangle, I’ve been on the hunt for an earth-tone, resin set – and Scanlan Theodore answered my calls. I love the amber hue and know these would look great as an add-on to a work outfit, or dressed up for something more formal like a wedding. I can already picture myself this summer, wine in hand as they stylishly clunk together.

Dinosaur Designs Wide Boulder Bangle

If there’s an item at the top of my to-buy list, it’s this beauty from Dinosaur Designs. When it comes to jewellery, I love a statement piece that looks striking but doesn’t require too much fuss. This scratches the itch in my brain that calls for simplicity while still looking directional. I can see myself wearing this to death with plenty of dints and knicks along the way, though they wouldn’t matter too much given the one-off nature of the design.

27 Mollys Flower Bracelet Multi

Melbourne-based jeweller Brent Payne is one of the steeziest people I know. Naturally, everything he makes is equally as cool. We recently borrowed a few 27 Mollys pieces for a beauty shoot in our latest print issue and it was really hard having to return them afterwards. The Flower Bracelet is one for my Christmas wishlist!

Love Well Vintage Cerrone 18ct Gold Hinged Bangle
This is very much a wishlist item for me, sitting well above my current budget. But I adore it. A vintage bangle from Australian jewellery house Cerrone, it’s 18 karat gold and has all the pizzazz I want in an accessory. I’ve had eyes on it since I first saw it on Love Well, which sources and curates quality vintage jewellery from around the world. If anyone is feeling particularly generous, I wouldn’t say no to a gift!

Cleopatra’s Bling Tengri Bracelet

I have had my eye on this beauty for a long time. I love the simplicity of the gold cuff but with the tiny details of the studded sapphire, ruby and emeralds. It’s the perfect everyday piece, but I can also see it being used as a feature piece on a special occasion look.

Merjuri Dôme Figure Cuff
I have been a committed gold jewellery wearer for years now, building up a solid collection of earrings, necklaces and rings. I thought you had to pick a side and stick to it. But lately, I’ve found myself drawn more and more to the idea of mixing metals and playing with both silver and gold pieces. Since coming across Merjuri Dôme Figure Cuff, it’s gone straight to the top of my Christmas wishlist. I love how chunky it is and the warped shape is different from anything else I own.
