How to defy gravity and use Booby Tape this event season
WORDS BY DAISY HENRY
Holding space for the girls.
When I think of breast tape, I immediately picture Kim Kardashian circa 2010 with her breasts held up by gaffa tape. While her boobs look amazing, I can’t help but cringe at the idea of having to tear it off. Surely it would be painful – and surely it would strip off any fake tan along with it. If that’s the cost of a gravity-defying cleavage, I’m not sure I’m prepared to pay it.
However, strapless bras can only get you so far. Fashion has evolved since the 2010s, leaving us with an endless range of creative cut-outs and plunging necklines to take into account. The question is: Do you choose good cleavage and a painful removal process, or do you choose breast support and visible bra straps?

After trying out various types of tape found in the aisles of hardware stores (like electrical and duct tape), sisters Bianca and Bridgett Roccisano channelled their frustration into creating one of the first-ever breast lift tapes.
Designed for people of all sizes, Booby Tape is made to provide support, lift your boobs and enhance your cleavage. From the classic Booby Tape to the Extra Wide size (specially designed for people with bigger busts), there are plenty of ways to customise it to suit you.
Although event season can be a point of stress, if there’s a will (and Booby Tape), then there’s a way to make it work.
How to use Booby tape

Before attempting anything, Bianca and Bridgett recommend starting with a patch test. To do this, you need to apply a small piece of Booby Tape to clean skin (make sure you’re not wearing any moisturisers or oils). From there, leave the tape on for 24 hours before peeling it off softly. This way, you’ll be able to make sure you have no allergies or sensitivities.
From there, you can apply as much as you need to dry skin, place your breast in position and remove the backing tape. There are a few different taping styles you can use depending on your outfit. For example, if you’re wearing a strapless dress, you can tape horizontally, starting on your left side and pulling the tape across to your right. If you’re wearing a plunging neckline, you can place the tape below your breast, pull it over your shoulder and secure it.
“Our Booby Tape is for women of all bust sizes, no breast is too big or too small,” Bianca and Bridgett tell me. “However in saying this, women with larger breasts will see more of a dramatic result using Booby Tape.”
If it’s your first time using Booby Tape and you have a bigger bust, you can opt for the Extra Wide option for more support and get a friend to help you apply it. To avoid hurting any sensitive areas, Bianca and Bridgett also suggest using nipple covers to make the removal process less painful.
How long does Booby Tape last?
“The longer you wear your Booby Tape, the stickier the adhesive gets,” Bianca and Bridgett explain. Though it’s designed to be sweat-proof, they recommend wearing Booby Tape for no longer than six hours.
Wearing it beyond that can make the removal process more difficult and risk causing irritation. If you have a long event that bleeds into the night, like a wedding or festival, you’re better off sneaking into the bathroom to remove and reapply it.
Will Booby Tape damage my clothes?
Just like fake tan, using the wrong tape can risk damaging your clothing. Unlike bra tape with double-sided adhesive, Booby Tape is only sticky on one side. Whether its silk, cotton or linen, once you tape your boobs, it doesn’t matter what kind of clothing you wear over the top.
How do you remove Booby Tape?

Although it might be tempting to rip it off quickly like a Band-Aid, Bianca and Bridgett insist on peeling the tape off slowly. Use one hand to gently take the tape off and the other to support the skin.
If you’re particularly pain-averse, you can also opt for the Booby Tape remover to make the process that bit smoother. Get your tape wet and let it soak for five minutes before slowly peeling it off (and jump in the shower to avoid any spillage).
