Ralph Lauren Pre-Fall 2015
“total luxury, but simplicity and fashion.”
Ralph Lauren delivered an extremely camel-heavy series for his Pre Fall collection, despite himself stating that camel hair can be, wait for it, “very boring”. Yet it’s evident Lauren’s desire to use camel did not budge, instead presenting a need to jazz it up a little. And so, that’s what he set out to do.
Macrame detailing, suede tassels, lace/fur combos and tailored volume work together to merge a proclaimed “native sensibility” with a “Madison Avenue look.” It’s this juxtaposition of styles with Lauren’s acute attention to detail that save an entirely camel-hued collection from being overly blah.
As he put it, “total luxury, but simplicity and fashion.”
