Alexa Chung x AG drop second collection

Even better than the first.

Alexa Chung has flexed her designer chops again with a second capsule collection for AG.

The Fall ’15 selection follows the sell-out success of her debut Spring line for the established denim powerhouse.

Chung cites a chic, imaginary girl-band causing trouble in the desert as her muse for the line – evident in the polished, yet undeniably vintage-inspired, designs.

The new collection works as an evolution on the first with pieces able to transition effortlessly from day-to-night: “The first collection was very focused and stripped back,” she says.

“With the second collection it was more about exploring where else we could take it”.

The collaboration shifts gears and moves beyond the boy-cut tees and worn-in denim jeans that grounded the first. Suede, corduroy and broken twill all feature in Chung’s latest instalment. She also follows up her stint as 2014 Woolmark Prize Judge by integrating pure wool, merino and cashmere into the range.

Silhouettes are redefined in the Fall drop, with high rise jeans in skinny and straight cuts lined up alongside A-line skirts and lace-up suede shorts. The overalls make a return in fresh incarnations of non-stretch twill and supima corduroy.

The verdict: the collection is both quintessentially Chung and AG at the same time. The line works to incorporate the best basics for your AW wardrobe, ready for any hour of the day or night. Most of all, Chung’s designs manage to encapsulate the zeitgeist of current fashion climate: fun, cool women who kick up their heels in the desert and look great all the while.

The collection will be available on Stylebop from July 23.
