The NGV has opened a retail space just for jewellery
A. Space. For. Jewellery.
The NGV has become our favourite weekend hangout and with good reason.
Aside from a continual loop of insanely great exhibits (Andy Warhol and Ai Weiwei, Viktor&Rolf), our favourite Melbourne hub has just added a contemporary jewellery space.
A. Space. For. Jewellery.
Part of the NVG Design Store, the retail project features limited edition jewellery pieces and exclusive contemporary design works.
The launch of the space also carries the NGV’s collaboration with designer, Mary Featherston, and jeweller, Blanche Tilden. Designed exclusively for the NGV, the collection sees handcrafted jewellery pieces made with 70-year-old glass elements from Featherston’s archives. The retail space also highlights a mix of international designers, including a collab with Amsterdam-based Galerie Ra.
But there’s plenty here for Aus designers too. The space aims to showcase local practitioners who have drawn inspiration from naturally occurring formations. Think Aimee Fairman’s geologically inspired works and Christel van der Laan’s honeycomb brooches.
The initiative also sees NGV partner with Pieces of Eight gallery to present the work of designers Seb Brown, Melanie Katsalidis and Peta Kruger.
The permanant retail space is now open at the NGV Design Store.
