Fashion Journal’s annual gift guide for 2025 is here

Thoughtful presents that support our favourite local makers.

When it comes to holiday gifting, I believe you fall into one of two camps. There are the people who can’t grasp that yes, we’re already in December. This comes with a sort of resistance, a sense of defiance that the year has gone disarmingly fast, resulting in last-minute shopping and panic-buying.

Then, there’s the group who lean into all things festive. Decorations go up early, holiday playlists are on and gifts are pre-ordered with plenty of time to spare. I fall into the latter group and over the years present-shopping, I’ve learnt how to work smarter, not harder.

Rather than scouring shops or having a million tabs open on your phone, it’s better to go in with a plan. Ask yourself: Who exactly am I buying for? What budget am I working with? Does that person love to bake, are they a big reader, have they mentioned a certain piece of jewellery they’re obsessed with? Open your Notes app and dot point ideas as they come.

You could also turn to the Fashion Journal gift guide. As editors, we’re always browsing (it’s part of the job) so we have no shortage of ideas to help you stay ahead of gifting. After all, there’s no greater feeling than knowing you won’t have to set foot in a shopping centre in mid-December. Split between gifts over and under $100, our 2025 Annual Gift Guide has something for everyone in your life, prioritising local designers, makers and retailers.
