PUMA’s collaboration with LA designer, R H U D E, is dropping next month

The first of its kind

PUMA has teamed up with LA-based designer, Rhuigi Villaseñor, who rocketed into the scene in 2012 after Kendrick Lamar wore his breakout bandana tee at the BET Awards.

Known for subverting streetwear norms and taking a Warhol-esque focus on logos and graphics, R H U D E’s collaboration with PUMA is exciting to say the least.

And from the looks of the campaign images, the collection is a minimalist’s dream.

The whole collection looks about as comfortable as your cosiest trackies, while being far more acceptable to wear out of the house.

Leaning into the minimalist aesthetic that is synonymous with R H U D E, the LA designer breathes new life into a selection of iconic PUMA silhouettes.

Starting at the top, the tall Basket ’68 OG has had an upgrade. With white leather, grey suede and silver accents, these original basketball-style kicks are looking as modern as ever.

A fan favorite, the CELL Alien – see our styling tips here – takes on a slightly darker persona. With a muted black mesh and leather upper, the shoe is completed by the (almost fluorescent) “Green Menthol” CELL technology base.

PUMA’s reworked Alteration looks like a glorious love child of a Triple S and a doona cover. Comfy and cool. Incorporating grey and silver tones with a vintage-hued midsole, the shoe’s upper is protected by a unique heel-encircling suede overlay.

For the final shoe of the collection, the Palace Guard, features grey suede touches with its upper accented with intentionally-haphazard stitches for an unfinished feel.

In terms of apparel, R H U D E combines the athleticism of PUMA with more classic suiting techniques and unconventional patterning – making for some unisex separates that are hard to look past.

Designed to accompany the distinct footwear designs, the collection will include items such as coats, hoodies and tracksuits available in unisex sizing.

And with pops of colour throughout – even the maximalists will be happy.

Find the PUMA X R H U D E collection online and in PUMA stores as of August 3.
