Ethical accessories.

With the rise of sustainability in the fashion industry, there’s no need to choose between your ethics and aesthetics.

Melbourne label Simétrie was born out of this widespread desire to balance style with sustainability.

Every bag is made from 100 percent natural materials, including vegetable tanned kangaroo leather. Kangaroo is considered one of the most ecological leathers available, as it’s harvested locally and doesn’t require farming.

The use of water-based dyes and glue also means the label’s craftspeople – local makers who are paid a fair wage – don’t work with harsh chemicals that can damage their health.

Taking inspiration from the shape of the moon, Simétrie’s first collection features a range of minimalist handbags, pouches and interchangeable straps.

If you want to learn exactly how the bags are produced and make one for yourself, you can attend a monthly workshop at the brand’s Brunswick studio.
