Sustainability event Undress Runway returns

Words by Tess Macallan

Housed in a former textile factory in Coburg.

In 2011, Undress Runway began as pop-up runway show out of a Brisbane carpark. It has since developed into a national sustainable fashion event that’s on a mission to transform the fashion industry.

After a three year hiatus, Undress Runway is coming back with a three-day sustainable fashion event in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane.

The event kicks off on November 22-24 in a repurposed textile factory in Coburg, Melbourne.

The new three-day program features a massive lineup. A full-day conference titled Undress Your Mind will explore initiatives in the creative industries that work towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The goals are designed to address global challenges and include protecting the planet and achieving peace and equality for all.

There’ll also be a day of Undress Showroom, to celebrate creative activism with art exhibitions, live music, slam poets, food trucks and ethical designer activations.

And of course a sustainable fashion runway show will take place, Undress Runway.

Speakers across event will include Maxine Bedat of New Standard Institute, Dominique Drakeford of Melanin.ASS, and Natalie Isaacs of 1 Million Women.

Tickets to Undress Melbourne go on sale August 23.
