Book review: All The Buildings In Melbourne

*that I’ve drawn so far.

Melbourne is a beautiful city. With the Gold Rush of the 1850s came a huge influx of money, turning Melbourne into one of the world’s wealthiest cities.

And with that came architecture.

Now James Gulliver Hancock is on a mission to draw all the buildings in the city. Fascinated by Melbourne’s history and the architectural juxtaposition of old and new, he is using illustration to immortalise his perceptions.

For those who tend not to look up, it’s pretty interesting to see these buildings out of context – like I once was blind, but now I see. Recommended for anyone who lives in Melbourne/likes architecture.
