It’s the world’s happiest country for a reason.

Finland has been named the world’s happiest country for a second year running. But instead of keeping its secret to the good life quiet, the country wants to share it.

Visit Finland has just launched its Rent A Finn initiative, which invites travellers to spend time in the country. The program sees eight Finnish locals employed as ‘Happiness Guides’, who will help travellers get close to nature over three days in summer.

If selected, you might get to spend the weekend fishing at a summer cottage, or berry picking in the wilderness. Depending on your host, you’ll stay in everything from houses to hotels, tents and huts. But perhaps even better than that, all expenses – from travel to accommodation – will be covered. You’re even able to apply with a friend or your family.

To be considered, you’ll need to submit a short video about yourself, detailing your connection to nature and the reasons why you’d like to go to Finland, before April 14. Applicants will be chosen in May, before visits take place between June and August.
