AS TOLD TO LARA DALY

Where to find vintage markets, historic cinemas, rooftop saunas and £6 martini Mondays.

Here at Fashion Journal, we want to unearth the hidden spots in Australian cities that only the locals know about. We also want to sniff out the best spots people find overseas. After watching all the London Fashion Week content with envy last month, a visit to the city is planted firmly on our 2026 vision board.

Anyone who’s visited London knows how invaluable it is to have some intel from a local. Especially when that person is as cool as model and creative, Sasha Kapica. A true multi-hyphenate, Sasha has fronted campaigns for the likes of Miu Miu, Vivienne Westwood and Ashely Williams, while her artistic talents span illustration, photography and creative direction.

Berlin-born but a London local of 10 years, Sasha’s moved around a lot but is back in London Fields, her favourite neighbourhood to mooch about and people watch. Her ideal day in the city looks like a run around Victoria Park, a coffee and sandwich while perusing a vintage market, then a boogie with friends at a strictly-for-dancing club.

If this sounds like you, read on for her favourite spots in London to shop, eat, drink and recover.

What’s an underrated spot in London?

“The Wapping Ornamental Canal System is my absolute favourite place for a walk on a grey day for a picnic or drink on a sunny day.”

Best agenda for a rainy day?

“Hit up the gym and rooftop saunas at Netil Corner and go to an exhibition – Japan House usually has really good ones on. Also, Reference Point in the city is a good spot to work from and find interesting books.”

Where to shop

Second Life Archive Markets

“If one of these markets is on when you’re visiting, I’d highly recommend. All the best vintage sellers come from London and across Europe and the rest of the world. It can be a bit hectic but you always find something.”

“I love how Tash designed her shop; it feels like you step into an extension of her brain. She stocks a lot of vintage Yohji Yamamoto, you can always find something unusual and inspiring in her store. She’s also always up for a yap which is why I spend a lot of time there.”

Kiko Kostadinov

21 Whiston Road, E2

“Turning part of their studio into a shop is so clever, the interiors are really nice as well. I also love not leaving my area. I think more brand’s should open shops outside of central London.”

Best place to have a dance?

OM

512 Kingsland Road, E8 4AE

“This place is new and the sound system is really good. The dance floor is strictly for dancing – if you want to chat, you can go outside or at the bar. They kind of run Berlin house rules there, which as a native Berliner I appreciate.”

@om__ldn

Where to go for a hangover cure?

“I don’t drink anymore so my version if this would probably be going to the cinema. The Barbican cinema is my favourite go-to nearby, but if I have the time I’ll go the The Phoenix in Finchley – it’s been operating since 1912 and is the most beautiful cinema I’ve ever seen.”

Where to eat

Logma Cafe

81 Goldsmiths Row, London E2 8QR, United Kingdom

“I like a one-stop spot and I drink a lot of coffee, so Logma has got my whole day taken care of. The aubergine sandwich is top.”
