We first heard news that a Studio Ghibli theme park was opening in June last year. Now, almost a year later, we have the first concept images of the attraction.

Originally due to unveil in 2020, the park will now open its gates in 2022. It’s set to be built at the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park in Nagakute.

The park will feature rides and forest trails based on Hayao Miyazaki’s most popular films, including My Neighbour Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle and Kiki’s Delivery Service.

Expect a Princess Mononoke Village, a Ghibli Warehouse and a main gate that resembles the buildings from Howl’s Moving Castle.

Giant installations of spiders, boars and other creatures from Miyazaki’s films will also appear throughout the park.

Take a look through the gallery above, and start planning your annual leave.
