Out of the ordinary.

Prepare to fill up on Swedish meatballs, another trip to IKEA will soon be needed.

SJÄLVSTÄNDIG is IKEA’s latest collection (try saying that out loud), and it’s made from 100 per cent more sustainable cotton – meaning less water usage, fertilisers and pesticides, and a happier environment.

The name itself translates to ‘individual’, which seems fitting for the brightly-coloured, quirky range on offer.  Included in the limited-edition selection are floor cushions, decorative tape rolls, bedding and ceramics.

For floor decor, sink your feet into IKEA’s new modular carpet a geometric piece with hook and loop fasteners that allows for customisation. You’re free to mix and match each rug to create more unusual shapes, or something more traditional.

And on a more personal level, each ceramic vase in the collection features a unique handprint or signature, courtesy of the craftspeople behind the scenes.

SJÄLVSTÄNDIG will be available online and in-store from October.
