For an Instagram-worthy space.

DIY interior design is truly in its heyday. Everyone loves a carefully curated space, especially in the age of Instagram when a shot of your bedside table can say so much about you. After spending the majority of the past two years stuck at home, you likely did some redecorating in lockdown to evoke the sense of a fresh environment or escaped vicariously by becoming obsessed with content creators’ spaces on social media.

Like fashion, decorating your home is a way to express yourself. And it feels good to be surrounded by objects which bring you joy – plus, the right touch can turn a not-so-appealing sharehouse into a home you feel proud of.

Brothers David and Troy Howie share a passion for style and design and, in 2017, decided to launch their own business to provide on-trend yet affordable homewares, tableware, and decor to like-minded people. And so Maine and Crawford was born – a platform offering stylish, practical and affordable pieces for Australian homes.

“The story of Maine and Crawford is first and foremost a family story,” says Freddy Conte, Business Development Manager behind Maine and Crawford’s parent company, ACP Group, as he talks us through the company’s beginnings.

What began as a humble homewares venture has grown exponentially since Maine and Crawford joined forces with ACP Group. “We started initially with a couple hundred lines and now we have over 3,000 products in our catalogue, ready to ship. It has been quite a ride,” he says.

“Nowadays, people are focusing more and more on their home interior and showing it off on social media. It’s a new way of communicating your personality.” With options for a range of budgets and styles, Maine and Crawford’s offering is vast and diverse yet thoughtfully selected.

“We have an established buying team that have the best eyes for designs and products. They usually travel five to six times a year around the globe and select every single line, dealing directly with manufacturers and designers,” explains Freddy.

“The last couple of years have been quite a challenge on the travelling front but we have put systems in place to be able to communicate and collaborate with both our key suppliers and new contacts.”

Not only does Maine and Crawford seek items that look good, but it’s important its catalogue is full of well-made products that are functional and stand the test of time. “Our products need to photograph well, be super well-made and give you a good vibe from the get-go,” says Freddy. “We aim to ethically source natural, handmade products that are made under the best conditions possible.”

While Maine and Crawford operates online for an accessible, efficient shopping experience, when it comes to homewares you may prefer to shop in person to gauge how something will suit your home.

And from April 9 to 12, interior design fanatics will have the chance to do just that when Maine and Crawford exhibits at Reed Gift Fairs at ICC in Sydney to showcase its latest product selection and answer all your questions.

“This year, we are so thrilled to showcase our brand new 144m2 booth,” Freddy tells us. “It has been designed and created to give space and visibility to all the themes. Customers will be able to have one-on-one time with our team to offer that next level of service that we are so proud to have.”
