ACMI is presenting an exhibition on Oscar Wilde’s ‘The Nightingale and the Rose’

Did we mention it’s free?

ACMI is celebrating Archibald prize winner Del Kathryn Barton – and her artistic adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Nightingale and the Rose – in its latest exhibition.

The exhibition will showcase Barton’s artwork, a selection of never-before-seen props, animation material and a rare 1913 edition of Wilde’s anthology.

You’ll also be able to catch a special 14-minute animation, inspired by Barton’s The Nightingale and the Rose artworks. The film is a collaboration between Barton and Brendan Fletcher along with Method Studios,  and is voiced by big Australian names Mia Wasikowska, David Wenham and Geoffrey Rush. It also features the sweet sounds of Sarah Blasko, who wrote the film’s score.

If previous ACMI exhibitions are anything to go by, The Nightingale and the Rose will be an immersive and captivating experience.

The exhibition takes off June 21 and will be running through to September 18.
