Snapchat is officially setting up office in Australia

What do you wanna be when you grow up? I wanna work at Snapchat.

Have you ever been in the middle of face-swapping your cat and thought about how great it could be to do something along these lines as a profession?

Well don’t quit your daydream, because Snapchat is officially setting up HQ in Australia and you may well be its managing director, maybe.

Ever since the app’s conception in 2011, its popularity has only skyrocketed. Now with over 100 million daily active users, it’s no wonder the app is increasingly being employed as a direct marketing tool.

The platform has provided companies with a unique and unprecedented way of connecting with customers. Not only is it direct, it’s timely and more importantly, appeals to our sense of humour.

And now it’s coming to Australia. Snapchat’s Australian office is set to be located in Sydney and will see them joining other global social media suspects including Facebook and Twitter.

Never wanted a desk job? You might want to rethink that. Maybe you could spend your working days designing face-distorting filters with your colleagues or convincing CEO Evan Spiegel to allow anonymous screenshotting of snapstories.

But all jokes aside, legitimate roles at Snapchat include software engineer, information security engineer, technical lead and more.

So who knows, all those hours you ‘wasted’ on snapping your mates may be one of the reasons you land yourself a job after all. Welcome to the 21st Century.
