Pantone announces its colour of the year for 2020

Surprisingly boring?

When Pantone first declared Cerulean Blue to be the colour of the millennium in 1999, the masses were sceptical. But in the two decades since, the company has turned forecasting colour trends into a tradition.

After a year of Living Coral, Pantone has declared Classic Blue will reign in 2020. 

A staple choice when selecting a favourite colour, classic blue is chill and dependable. But is it slightly boring? We only want reliable when we’re talking about commitment, not looking for a fun night out.

Pantone has cited the dawn of a new decade around the murkiness of our future as reasons behind the choice, imploring us to ask: What better way to begin 2020 than with the calming hue of classic blue?
